Finland remains a top destination for international education. The latest results from the autumn joint application to higher education institutions have been published, and the numbers highlight both the competitiveness and opportunities available for students worldwide. This will be a good opportunity for international students aiming to start their studies in autumn 2026.
Key Highlights from Autumn 2025 Admissions
- 33,900 applicants participated in the autumn joint application.
- 11,470 students were offered admission — that’s 34% of applicants.
- 67% of admitted students secured a place in their first-choice programme.
- Universities of Applied Sciences (UAS) dominated the intake:
- 11,300 admissions to 20 universities of applied sciences
- 170 admissions to 9 universities
- Applicants were able to list up to six study options; on average, they applied to 3.1 programmes
Waiting List & Additional Opportunities
- Offers of admission had to be accepted by 27 November 2025.
- Admissions from the waiting list continued until 8 December 2025.
- Institutions may still open additional application periods in November and December for vacant study places.
